SD Sangokuden Xiahoudun : Part 1~!

ITSSSSSSSSSS WIP TIMEEEEEEEE~!

Hye guys! Kamen is here again to bring u another post and this time, we'll be doing a WIP. WIP as in work in progress. As u may know, im a cheap ass bastard who dont even have the money to buy Bandai original Gunpla kits.

Its true, i always ended up buying the "pirated Bandai", that is....u guessed it right boys, its TT Hongli. haha. I wonder if Bandai ever visit my blog. I sure hope they dont sue me. :D. That aside, its the famous pirated gunpla brand (at least in Malaysia) that modeller's turn on into if they dont have teh money. Research have been conducted and it has been proven that, like the guys who sells TT Hongli products said, "its 99.8% same like Bandai liao, no need to worry lar". I wonder where did they ever get/proven its 99.8% thing.

That aside, i have to warn you guys about one thing. TT Hongli is not for the faint hearted. Yes, it does have its problems. But nevermind that, i just want to gunpla-ing. Get it? gunpla and playing? gunpla-ing? :D........

Enough talk, lets get into the WIP. So here's the WIP of SD Sangokuden Xiahoudun.

The Box

So here's a pic of the model kit box.

As been expected of TT Hongli, they really did copy all from Bandai. Except that they just replaced the logo with their logo. and also, look!! Cartoon and instruction are included!!

Good one TT Hongli. hahaha.

Here we have the runners. I must say the mold looks quite ok. I love the fact that Xiahoudun is basically made of black. Shiny black that is. Quite nice actually. The first thing that made we wanna buy this kit is basically the distinctive design. Yeah, im a bad guy mobile suit guy (SIEG ZEON btw). TT Hongli is nice, they even give u a stand for ur SD Sango. Nais~!

Just look at those details. U can see a bit of flash here and there, but a small problem to pay for such a cheap kit. And also, the weapon for this guy is nice. U wanna know why? Let this pic explain to u.

Woot! they even give the metal chain like Bandai does for the sword. TQVM TT Hongli. I love u guys. If you look at the stickers for a SD Sango, u can get an insight of what color lacks the most for the kit. We can see here that it lacks black, red, silver and also green for the eyes.

GATTAI!/Assemble~!

So here we can see the parts that made the head. Im actually surprised that they made a separate part for the mouth piece. And also the pirate eye cover (i dont know what that purple color thing is called) is also separate.

U can see in the pic above, he looks similar to that black guy from Star Wars. hurm..

No, not u..

still not u..

u arent even black!

No, not that Lando wimpy motherfucker, that other black guy.

IM TEH FORCEE!

yeah, its him. :) U guess it rite boys, it's Darth Vader!! with a pirate eye cover!
\(0o0)/.

Lets move on to the body. Standard SD Sango assembly. Nothing special here guys.

Great details i would say. Looks great.

As usual, the SD Sango hand assembly. The usual 2 pc and 3 piece parts. The shoulder, arm and hand. Oh, if u guys wanna know, SD Sango usually give different kind of hand posture to each kit. For Darth...i mean..Xiahoudun, he got the grab the boobs hand. Naissss. :D

Here's the skirts armor. Looks nice. My only problem is that, the fact that this kit is basically made of shiny black plastic, u'll get ur fingerprints all over it. Especially if ur a fat ass like me. :D fat finger fingerprint all over gunpla. mmmmmmmm...

Here comes the first problem! as this is TT Hongli, u'll certaintly encounter some parts that will not fit perfectly. In Xiahoudun case, it cant be snapped together. (* ~ *). But dont worry, kamen's here to help. What u need to do is, just snip a bit of the MALE part (the PENIS or should i say, the COCK), so that it will be much more loosen and can snap together more easily.

kene potong liao..

problem solved! :)

Let's move on to the legs part.

`Man, i love those shoes. i mean the foot part. Funky design is funky. :) but I hate those yellow parts that supposed to be gold. Ugly color. blearrrgh.

And now i present to u, the finished kit!

May the force be with u! Cya!

SD Sangokuden Chou-un Gundam + Hieisen… the review~!

Hye guys. Kamen here.

So…urm…how do i start this? haha.

Welcome to my little blog (or wordpress?) about gundam, kamen rider, my life etc.

As my love for gunpla grows, i think its better if i contribute a little to the gunpla community. So, my blog will focuses on review on the kits that i’ve done, maybe do some WIP or ranting about anything. Im a noob in gunpla building, thats for sure. You will not see any great paintjob/modification/or anything that falls in that category. But, be sure to stay tuned.

First thing 1st, let me say that i love the SD Sangokuden series. I like the Sangokuden series because those tiny kits has a lot of details. And i like the challenges in building these kits. And also, i prefer swords over guns. So, Sangokuden FTW!!! haha.

Anyway, enough talk. here’s a review of :

SD Sangokuden Chou-un Gundam + Hieisen (Zhao Yun)

Chou-un is the SD Sango ( i’ll use that when referring to SD Sangokuden series) that i first ever build when i started building gunpla. Its not mine actually as the kit were purchased in the 1st place by my brother. He got the kit for RM40++. Thats about $12.95 or about 1074yen. Thats quiet a bargain at that time.

This kit includes Chou-un Gundam and also his horse Hieisen. It came in this box that is twice the size of the normal SD box. i would say that the box art were pretty nice. I dont know if Bandai ever released Chou-un separated from Hieisen. I’ve never encountered one before.

ummmm…nice n big.. (no pun intended)

So, here’s a snapfit pictures of the finished Chou-un. He’s naked btw. hahahha.

and here’s the fully armored one, equip with the weapons. This SD basically comes with 2 lance that can combine with one loooooooooooooooooooong lance (or spear?). I love that. :)though i rarely seen he combined the lance in the anime.

i love those eyes

Now that looks cool. one thing that i like about this kit is the dragon head on the chest. That is one cool dragon.

The articulation on this kit is ok, a generic SD Sango kits articulation. The head can rotates, the hands can rotate, bla bla bla….. Even with the armor on, the kit can move freely. I guess thats a good thing. Chou-un is basically based on the V2 Gundam. I think they looked pretty similar, with the wings and the color scheme.

but i do think the dragon on the shoulders is kinda too big for the kit itself. But, no worries guys, the shoulder dragon can be attached on the lance/spear/britneyspear?. up next is the horse of all horses, the Hieisennnnnnnnnnn!!

hururuurrrrburrr…(thats how a horse sounded like, amirite?)

So, when a gundam have a horse, thats mean that it can pawn all gundams.

What? u dont believe me? Look at Toho Fuhai a.k.a. the Undefeated of the East, the former King of Hearts, MASTER GUNDAAAAAAAAAAM!!. (que the long introduction poses and all such) . Ihope Bandai released Master Gundam horse soon, an MG that is. haha.

As you can see in the above pic, Chou-un didn’t really ride the horse. He’s like sitting there with his legs wide open. Now, that disappoints me. I think Bandai can do better. but hey, cant hope much for an SD. This will do for now. You can see that Hieisen have several holes where you can attach many accessories like armor or something. So, thats all i have to say for the snapfitted Chou-un.

For a SD Sango to looks good, or any other SD series, u mainly have to paint them because they really are plain looking without the colors. You cannot rely on the stickers solely to make it looks good because it wont. I rarely uses stickers on a SD except for the eyes or special cases like i dont the right color to use.

Chou-un basically is a good beginning SD Sango to start painting because i do think the Chou-un is not very hard to color in the first place. the parts that are quite hard to color are the front helmet/the horn section and the front body armor. You’ll know what i mean if you try to color one. I’ll not be posting tutorial on how to color Chou-un but maybe i will for future SD. Its the same with Hieisen, i think pretty much everyone can color it.

Without further blabbing, i present to you the fully colored Chou-un.

the “im angry talk to the hand” pose

I do think Chou-un is much more appealing after fully colored. The blue theme makes him looks vibrant and appealing to the eyes. The color scheme just took me away. Its awesome to me.

So, here’s the verdict, Chou-un is an awesome kit to start with and u wont feel disappoint buying it. It comes with many great points like great looks, great color scheme and also teh HORSE itself is a great companion. Totally worth your money. be sure to get this guys.

I give it 4.5 /5. That’s all from me. Until next time. :D . cya!

p/s : here’s some photo dump for you guys to enjoy!
